Foil block and metallic ink
Print finishes are an important consideration as part of the design process. The use of a specialised print technique allows an aspect of the design to quite literally, in the case of metallics, shine.
A detail on a front cover or on a business card, or promotional material stands out with the careful use of a bit of bling. The choice of colours for foil blocking is huge, even the classics gold, silver and bronze are available in an array of tints and intensities.
Metallic Pantones also offer a vast array of colours and are applied as part of the litho print process.
Here, a gold foil is applied to a detailed cover illustration. On a solid colour, the gold is particularly strong. The bookmark uses a Pantone metallic dark gold for the logo and line device separating key details.
